TAKE IT TO SACRAMENTO ON NOVEMBER 22ND!
On Saturday, November 22 at 2:00pm, equal-minded
citizens from across the state and country will
take part in Take it to Sacramento, a massive
protest against this bigoted and unfair measure
in front of our State Capitol. With an
estimated attendance of 30,000 - 40,000 people,
this event promises to be the single largest gay
rights demonstration to ever take place in the
history of the United States, sending a clear
message to the state and the nation that civil
rights are inalienable among all its citizens.
Los Angeles-based California Outreach and
Sacramento-based Equality Action Now have teamed
up to organize this historic event, and the
outpouring of support has already been
incredible. Many state and local politicians
have displayed interest in coming to the event,
including San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom; a
number of corporate sponsors have committed
their support...

This annual event and display is a real gem for gay
California. We get to see our gay elected state
representatives and hear them speak about how far things have
come in their lifetimes and during their tenure, how exciting today's times are and where
we are going. The State Capitol Building rotunda (second
floor of the dome) is a historic beautiful place and awesome
place to see the 4 displays of Heroes, Trailblazers and
Leaders. Through the month of June. Check it out.
At the dedication ceremony. You can see the display
"Trailblazers" behind John Laird who is speaking. There
are 4 displays - Heroes, Trailblazers and 2 for Leaders.
This display is especially exciting because it is right here in
our city and our local Lavender Library is part of the
presentation. (bad pic, the rotunda isn't really orange)

The temperature was
100 degrees and fortunately a delta breeze provided some relief.
Dykes on bikes lead off the parade.
Protest.
About "three or four dozen" according to police anti gay
protesters showed up. The usual bad actors. Above is
a picture of the small group of anti anti gay protesters (gay
friendly). The police were wonderful at keeping the peace
with a calm show of force. The police kept the street
closed and the protesters across the street. The
protesters left in the afternoon.
This woman strolled
back and forth in front of the protesters, carrying a toddler,
parasol and a sign that said "I LIKE PIE."
The next 3 pictures
are the 3 bull riding contestants Sunday. The bulls were
big and wild. All three contestants had to be helped out
of the corral after their rides. The first contestant was
a cowgirl. Wow rodeo is tough. The crowd enjoyed the
rodeo and it looked like the cowboys and cowgirls enjoyed it
even more. Great job Sierra Stampede Rodeo team.
