LGBT History Exhibit at the Capitol Rotunda during the month
of June.
The
Legislative LGBT Caucus and the
Lavender Library
are hosting an exhibit of prominent figures in California's LGBT
history. The exhibit will be on display in the Capitol Rotunda,
Second Floor, from June 1 through June 30 during regular
business hours (7:30 - 6 pm weekdays, 8 - 6 pm weekends)
There will be an Opening Ceremony with the Legislative
Caucus at 5:00 PM, June 13, 2006, at the Capitol Rotunda.

Parade and Fair held June 10, 2006.
The weather was perfect for a parade and fair at
86-degrees, but not so good for big beer garden sales.
The diverse community came out and had a good time.

Among the local dignitaries were Sacramento Mayor
Heather Fargo and West Sacramento Mayor Christopher
Cabaldon who is seated on top of the Wells Fargo stage
coach at left.

Other community leaders were also out in force notably
TJ Bruce at left with friends.
Now we know the name of his new club under
construction, Badlands Sacramento.

 Cheer
SF sent an ever bigger contingent this year of energetic
exciting performers and even entertained the crowd along
the parade route. |
|
|
 On
a negative note, there was a group of protesters from a
local Christian church at the event. They held
signs condemning gays and the parade and got in the way
of fair goers trying to enter the gates. Some
verbal sparring ensued and some were wondering out loud
why the Sacramento police didn't keep them at bay to
avoid confrontation. One local TV News program
covered the event and gave the protesters no mention.
Good. I include this pic only to remind us all
that we still face ignorance and hate in this land of
freedom and equality. |
